We need your input!
Are You a Family Member of Someone with an Intellectual Disability?
We are looking for family members of youth and adults with intellectual disabilities to tell us how to improve what nurses, doctors, dentists, and other healthcare professionals are learning about people with intellectual disabilities to provide them with high-quality healthcare services.
Who are we looking for?
- Family members with youth or adults with intellectual disabilities (16 years old or older)
- Family members who can communicate in English
- Family members who are willing to speak up in small groups
What is this project about?
The goal of our project is to develop ways to teach healthcare students and professionals (nurses, doctors, dentists, and others) to better understand how to work with people with intellectual disabilities and talk with them about their health.
What will we ask you to do?
- Take part in a group meeting with 5-6 other family members of youth or adults with intellectual disabilities.
- The meeting will take about 1.5 hours.
- You can take part in person or online.
- In the meeting, you will be asked to share what you think is important for nurses, doctors, dentists, and other healthcare professionals to learn about people with intellectual disabilities to provide them with high-quality healthcare services.
- Everyone who takes part will receive a $25 gift card.
If you are interested in taking part in the meeting, please contact the project coordinators, Lisa Angel and Kennedy Sheppard, with the subject line ‘Group Meeting’. After you contact them, we will follow up with you. Thank you!
