An IDD-Inclusive Advanced Practice Primary Care Residency curriculum intended for integration into existing primary care residency programs for advanced practice providers (APPs).
This innovative curriculum aims to close gaps in health professional education and ensure every APP is equipped to provide high-quality care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It also empowers participants to drive system-level change in healthcare policy and practice.
The residency includes eight specialized courses covering:
• Health promotion
• Inclusive healthcare
• Assessment
• Behavioral health
• Reproductive health
• Pediatrics
• Aging and quality of life
• Psychopharmacology

Each course features expert-led learning, essential readings, interactive knowledge checks, reflection exercises, and a toolkit of resources to support patient care. Participants also develop SMART goals and action plans to improve their healthcare systems for people with IDD.
The curriculum is currently being piloted at five institutions across New York, Florida, and California. For more information, contact GolisanoInstitute@sjf.edu.
